Zyban
Other Names: Bupropion Hcl, Wellbutrin, Wellbutrin SR, Wellbutrin XL.
Commonly Prescribed For: Depression, seasonal affective disorder and smoking cessation.
How to Take it: Zyban comes in tablets which are intended to be taken twice daily in dosages of 150mg with means a daily dosage of 300mg. It is advised to leave an interval of 8 hours between each dose of the drug. Zyban itself should be taken for anywhere between 7 to 12 weeks.
How it Works: Zyban belongs to a class of prescription known as antidepressants. Zyban stimulates certain activity in the brain so that the desire for smoking can be blocked.
Some Side Effects: Common effects of Zyban are: dry mouth, insomnia, agitation and headaches. Rarely this drug can cause seizures and it is not recommended that someone with a history of seizures be prescribed Zyban. However serious effects that result in immediate medical attention are rare with Zyban.
