Zanaflex
Other Names: Tizanidine Hydrochloride
Commonly Prescribed for: Zanaflex is a muscle relaxant which helps control spasticity.
How to take it: Zanaflex comes in both Capsule and Tablet form. It should be taken if and when needed and no more than 36mg (a single dose measures 8mg) should be taken within 24 hours. The effects of Zanaflex will climax after an hour or two and decrease between 3 to 6 hours.
How it Works: Zanaflex stops the spasticity of muscles, it helps control specific motor neurons by stopping them from ‘firing’ which is the cause of muscle spasticity and cramp.
Some Side Effects: Common side effects derived from taking Zanaflex include, but are not limited to: anxiety, back pain, depression, drowsiness and stomach pain. If any of these problems persist or become intolerable you should seek advice from your doctor. Less common side effects of Zanaflex include: difficulty swallowing, Migraines, weight loss, swollen feet and legs, sudden mood swings and trembling. Immediate medical attention should be sought if any of these symptoms materialize.
