Orlistat

How to Take it: Orlistat comes as capsule taken by mouth. Take Orlistat either during a mealtime or at least after an hour after food. Skip your dose if you miss a meal or if the meal is fat free.

How it Works: Orlistat belongs to the class of medications called lipase inhibitors. It blocks absorption of some of the fat present in the food eaten by working in the intestines.

Some Side Effects: gas with oily spotting, oily spotting on underwear or on clothing, loose stools, urgent need to have a bowel movement, stomach pain, headache, irregular menstrual periods, pain or discomfort in the rectum (bottom), difficulty in controlling bowel movements and anxiety. Following severe side effects such as itching, rash, hives, severe or continuous pain and problem in breathing or swallowing may occur.
