Urispas
Other Names: Flavoxate
Commonly Prescribed For: Urispas is most commonly prescribed for conditions such as cystitis (which is the inflammation of the urinary tract), prostatitis (this is inflammation of the prostate gland) and urethritis (which is inflammation of the urethra). It can help to reduce symptoms in patients such as the need to pass urine during the night, pain in the bladder, incontinence, pain when urinating or urine frequency.
How to Take It: Urispas can be taken and is tolerated by both adults and children who are over the age of 12. The usual dosage is one or two 100mg tablets three or four times per day. This can then be reduced as the symptoms start to lessen.
How It Works: Urispas works by relaxing the muscles that are in the wall of the bladder, which therefore helps to reduce uncontrollable contractions of the bladder. Urispas also helps to increase the amount of urine the bladder can hold, which reduces the need to urinate too often.
Some Side Effects: Side Effects of Urispas can include drowsiness, palpitations, diarrhea, headache, confusion, blurred vision, nausea, vomiting, vertigo, nervousness, dry mouth. More serious side effects include chest pain, eye pain, mental confusion, fever, palpitations and skin rashes.
