In other conditions, it is used to retard the flow of acid generated in the stomach and preventing it from affecting the stomach walls. It is usually injected into your hip or buttock through your vein for a period of fifteen minutes. This medication is also prescribed for some other uses.

How to Take it: It is advisable to take Tagamet along with meals or at nights. It is suggested to take this medicine together with a cup of water. Use a marked measuring spoon in order to take the amount of oral solution as prescribed by the physician. If you miss a dose, just skip it and continue the dose regularly the next time.
How it Works: Tagamet works by preventing and healing certain kinds of ulcers. It reduces the quantity of acid formed in the stomach. It belongs to a class of medication referred to as H2 blockers. It blocks the histamine receptor, a chemical that is released by the body often leading to severe effects.
Some Side Effects: Tagamet usage leads to side effects like headache, drowsiness, dizziness, breast enlargement, abdominal pain and constipation. Serios side effects include mental confusion, problems while breathing, skin rashes, itching and so on.
