How to Take it: Sucralfate is obtainable in the form of tablets or even in liquid form. It should be taken via mouth. Suggested dosage is one hour prior to taking meals and at night. It is advisable to take Sucralfate an hour before meals or two hours after taking meals, on an empty stomach. Regular usage can lead to effective results. Using Sucralfate must extend up to eight weeks in order for the ulcers to heal.

How it Works: Sucralfate works by preventing ulcers from occurring. It prevents the strong acid generated in the stomach from affecting the walls of the stomach. It helps in increasing the production of bicarbonate.

Some Side Effects: Common side effects include constipation, stomach pain, gas. Serious side effects include passing red stools, vomiting that is red in color, coughing and so on.
