Omeprazole

Commonly Prescribed For: Omeprazole is quite often combined with often sorts of medication in order to treat ulcers. It is used to cure symptoms of GERD, abbreviated to gastroesophageal disease and prevents the acid secreted in the stomach from affecting the esophagus and erosive esophagitis. The delayed release capsules are used to eliminate a bacterium, H. pyroli.

How to Take it: Omeprazole is available in the form of long acting capsules to be taken via mouth. Sodium bicarbonate present in the regular capsule helps in reducing the quantity of acid and makes Omeprazole to work more effectively. It is advisable to take this pill once every morning without having breakfast and an hour prior to taking meals.
How it Works: Omeprazole belongs to a group of prescription often referred to as proton pump inhibitors. It works by reducing excess acid secretion in the abdomen.
Some Side Effects: Regular side effects include stomach pain, dizziness and drowsiness. Several adversarial effects may lead to muscle cramps, skin rashes, hoarseness, tingling of lips and feet, itching and difficulty in swallowing.
