Sumatriptan

How it Works: Sumatriptan belongs to a group of drugs known as selective serotonin receptor agonists. This medication works to narrow the blood vessels present in the brain and hence stop the pain signals from reaching the brain.
Some Side Effects: Common side effects include pain in the injected area, muscle cramps, feeling of warmth, vomiting, tingling feeling, upset stomach, flushing, and drowsiness. Some serious side effects include tightness in the chest, changes in vision, fast heartbeat, skin rash, or hives, difficulty breathing, itching of the eyelids, and wheezing.
