How to Take it: Strattera is available in the form of a capsule to be taken via mouth. This medication is normally taken once every day in the dawn, or two times every day in the dawn and in the afternoon. Do not chew or crush the capsules, instead swallow the capsules entirely.

How it Works: Strattera belongs to a group of drugs known as selective norepinephrine reuptake inhibitors. This medication works to raise the levels norepinephrine (natural substance present in the brain, which is essential for controlling behavior).

Some Side Effects: Common side effects include heartburn, tingling in the hands, nausea, unusual dreams, vomiting, hot flashes, loss of appetite, sweating, weight loss, muscle pain, constipation, irregular menstrual period, stomach pain, difficulty urinating, gas, decreased sex drive, dry mouth, mood swings, excessive tiredness, and headache. Some serious side effects include fast or irregular heartbeat, seizures, chest pain, hallucinations, shortness of breath, abnormal thoughts, slow or difficult speech, abnormal thoughts, dizziness or faintness, rash, inflammation of the face, lips, or lower legs, and difficulty breathing or swallowing.
