Commonly Prescribed For: Sporanox is generally prescribed for treating fungal infections that originates in lungs and spreads through the body. This medication can also be used for treating fungal infections of toe and finger nails. It can be used for treating yeast infections of mouth and throat.

How to Take it: Sporanox is available in the form of a capsule, and a liquid to be taken via mouth. This medication is normally taken once or three times every day for a period of 3 months. It is taken two times every day for a period of one week to treat the fungal infections. Take this medication as prescribed.

How it Works: Sporanox belongs to a group of drugs known as triazoles. This medication works to impede the growth of fungi that leads to infections.

Some Side Effects: Common side effects include diarrhea, unusual dreams, constipation, runny nose, gas, depression, stomach pain, nervousness, heartburn, decreased sexual desire, sore or bleeding gums, muscle pain, sores in the mouth, sweating, and headache. Some serious side effects include excessive tiredness, difficulty breathing or swallowing, loss of appetite, itching, upset stomach, hives, vomiting, and rash, yellowing of the skin, frequent or painful urination, dark urine, fever, and numbness in the hands.
