Commonly Prescribed For: Ropinirole Hcl can be used alone or combined with other medications for treating symptoms of Parkinson’s disease, including shaking body parts, problems with balance and stiffness. This medication can also be used or treating Restless Legs Syndrome.
How to Take it: Ropinirole Hcl is available in the form of a tablet, and as long-acting tablet to be taken via mouth. This medication can be taken along with food in order to prevent stomach upset. The regular tablet is normally taken 3 times every. The extended-release tablet is generally taken once every day. Do not chew or crush the long-acting capsules, instead swallow the capsules entirely. Take this medication as prescribed, around the same time daily.
How it Works: Ropinirole Hcl belongs to a group of drugs known as dopamine agonists. This medication works to cat in place of dopamine (substance present in the brain, essential for controlling movement).
Some Side Effects: Common side effects include dry mouth, inflammation of the hands, feet, or lower legs, nausea, vomiting, stomach pain, joint pain, difficulty urinating, constipation, decrease in appetite, urgent need to urinate, dizziness, tiredness, decreased sensitivity to touch, drowsiness, sweating or flushing, difficulty remembering or concentrating, and heartburn or gas. Some serious side effects include hallucinations, changes in vision, fainting, difficulty swallowing, chest pain, and shortness of breath.
