How to take it: Ramipril is available in the form of a tablet to be taken via mouth. This medication is normally taken once or two times every day, either with food or without food. The capsules must be swallowed completely. Take this medication as prescribed, around the same time daily.

How it works: Ramipril belongs to a group of drugs known as angiotensin-converting enzyme inhibitors. This medication works to reduce some chemicals, which are responsible for tightening the blood vessels, so that blood can flow more smoothly, thereby allowing the heart to pump blood more efficiently.

Side effects: Common side effects include headache, weakness, dizziness, excessive tiredness, cough, and vomiting. Some serious side effects include inflammation of the face, lips, hands, or lower legs, fainting, hoarseness, lightheadedness, difficulty breathing or swallowing, sore throat, yellowing of the skin and chills.
