Raberprazole Sodium

Other Names: Aciphex.

Commonly Prescribed For: Raberprazole Sodium is used for treating certain symptoms where the stomach generates too much acid including Zollinger-Ellison syndrome, and ulcers. It can also be used for treating gastroesophageal reflux disease (a condition where the backward flow of acid from stomach into the esophagus leads to heart burn). It eliminates the bacteria called H. pylori which cause the ulcer. It is commonly used with other medications. 

How to Take it: It is available in the form of a delayed-release tablets to be taken via mouth. This medication is normally taken once after breakfast for a period of four to eight weeks. It is taken two times every day for a period of seven days during morning and evening meals when it is taken in combination with other medications.

How it Works: Raberprazole Sodium belongs to a group of drugs known as proton-pump inhibitors. It works by reducing the acid amount produced in the stomach.

Some Side Effects: Common side effects include headache, diarrhea, upset stomach, insomnia or nervousness, a rash or itching.
