Quinapril

Commonly prescribed for: Quinapril can be used alone or combined with other medications for treating high blood pressure. This medication can also be used with other drugs for treating heart failure. It is commonly used with other medications.

How to take it: Quinapril is available in the form of a tablet to be taken via mouth. This medication is normally taken once or two times every day. Take this medication as prescribed, around the same time daily.

How it works: Quinapril belongs to a group of drugs known as angiotensin-converting enzyme inhibitors. This medication works to decrease some chemicals that are responsible for tightening the blood vessels, so that blood flows more smoothly, thereby allowing the heart to pump blood more efficiently.

Side effects: Common side effects include dizziness, vomiting, excessive tiredness, and upset stomach. Some serious side effects include inflammation of the face, lips, hands, or lower legs, fainting, hoarseness, lightheadedness, difficulty breathing or swallowing, chest pain, yellowing of the skin, and sore throat.
