Propulsid
Other Names: Cisapride.
Commonly Prescribed For: Propulsid is generally prescribed for treating symptoms associated with nighttime heartburn in patients for whom other treatments failed to respond. This medication can also be used for treating patients with gastroesophageal reflux disease. It is commonly used with other medications.
How to Take it: Propulsid is available in the form of a tablet, and as liquid to be taken via mouth. This medication is normally taken 4 times every day, 15 minutes before taking meals and at nights. Take Propulsid as prescribed.
How it Works: This medication works to prevent the entry of food and acid into the esophagus by causing the muscles to constrict.
Some Side Effects: Common side effects include diarrhea, coughing, upset stomach, constipation, stomach discomfort, and stuffy nose. Some serious side effects include vision changes and chest pain.
