Prinzide
Other Names: Zestoretic.
Commonly Prescribed For: Prinzide is a combination of two medications known as Lisinopril and Hydrochlorothiazide. This combination is used for treating high blood pressure. It is commonly used with other medications.
How to Take it: Prinzide is available in the form of a tablet to be taken via mouth. This medication is normally taken once every day, either with food or without food. Take Prinzide as prescribed, around the same time daily.
How it Works: Lisinopril belongs to a group of drugs known as angiotensin-converting enzyme inhibitors. It works to reduce some chemicals that are responsible for tightening the blood vessels, so that blood flow more smoothly. Hydrochlorothiazide belongs to a group of drugs known as diuretics. This medication works by making your kidneys to eliminate unneeded water from blood in the form of urine.
Some Side Effects: Common side effects include dizziness, heartburn, headache, decrease in sexual ability, cough, tingling in the hands, and excessive tiredness. Some serious side effects include gray skin, weakness, inflammation of the face, lips, hands, or lower legs, lack of energy, hoarseness, loss of muscle tone, difficulty breathing or swallowing, pain in big toe, stomach pain, rapid or irregular heartbeat, vomiting, chest pain, sore throat, decrease in urination, and yellowing of the skin.
