Precose
Other Names: Acarbose, Prandase.
Commonly Prescribed For: Precose is generally prescribed with diet or other medications for treating type 2 diabetes (a condition where the body doesn’t uses insulin normally, hence fails to control the quantity of sugar present in the blood). It is commonly used with other medications.
How to Take it: Precose is available in the form of a tablet to be taken via mouth. This medication is normally taken 3 times every day. Take Precose as prescribed.
How it Works: Precose works to impede the action of some chemicals that are responsible for breaking food molecules to release glucose into the blood.
Some Side Effects: Common side effects include shakiness, clumsy or jerky movements, dizziness or lightheadedness, hunger, sweating, pale skin, nervousness or irritability, tingling around the mouth, sudden changes in behavior, weakness, and headache. Some serious side effects include dry mouth, decreased consciousness, and upset stomach or vomiting; breathe that smells fruity, extreme thirst, blurred vision, frequent urination, and shortness of breath.
