Prazosin
Other Names: Minipress.
Commonly Prescribed For: Prazosin can be used alone or combined with other medications for treating high blood pressure. This medication can also be used for treating benign prostatic hyperplasia, congestive heart failure, Raynaud’s disease, and pheochromocytoma. Prazosin is commonly used with other medications.
How to Take it: Prazosin is available in the form of a capsule to be taken via mouth. This medication is normally taken 2 or 3 times every day at regular intervals. Take Prazosin as prescribed.
How it Works: Prazosin belongs to a group of drugs known as alpha-blockers. This medication works to relax the blood vessels so that blood flows more smoothly through the body.
Some Side Effects: Common side effects include weakness, tiredness, nausea, and headache. Some serious side effects include hives, painful erection of penis, rash chest pain, itching, fast or irregular heartbeat, drowsiness, fainting, decreased reflexes, lightheadedness, and difficulty sleeping.
