Commonly Prescribed For: Polymox is generally prescribed for treating certain types of infections caused due to bacteria, like pneumonia, skin infections, urinary tract infections, bronchitis, ear infections, and gonorrhea. This medication can also be used with other medications for eliminating H. pylori (bacteria that leads to ulcers)
How to Take it: Polymox is available in the form of a capsule, as pediatric drops, as a tablet, suspension liquid, and as a chewable tablet to be taken via mouth. This medication is generally taken two times every day for every 12 hours or three times every day for every 8 hours. Chew and crush the chewable tablets thoroughly before swallowing. Take this medication as prescribed, around the same time daily.
How it Works: Polymox belongs to a group of drugs known as penicillin-like antibiotics. This medication works to thwart the growth of bacteria.
Some Side Effects: Common side effects include upset stomach, vomiting and diarrhea. Some serious side effects include severe skin rash, lack of energy, hives, seizures, and excessive tiredness, yellowing of the skin, pale skin, and abnormal bleeding.
