Piroxicam

Commonly Prescribed For: Piroxicam is generally prescribed for relieving pain and inflammation caused due to osteoarthritis and rheumatoid arthritis. This medication can also be used for treating gouty arthritis and ankylosing spondylitis. It can be used to relieve pain after surgery, muscle pain, and menstrual pain.
How to Take it: Piroxicam is available in the form of a capsule to be taken via mouth. This medication is generally taken once or two times every day. Take this medication as prescribed, around the same time daily.
How it Works: Piroxicam belongs to a group of drugs known as NSAIDs. This medication works to thwart the ability of the body to produce a substance that leads to fever, and inflammation.
Some Side Effects: Common side effects include diarrhea, ringing in the ears, constipation, dizziness, and gas. Some serious side effects include vision problems, difficult or painful urination, unexplained weight gain, back pain, fever, yellowing of the skin, blisters, flu-like symptoms, joint pain, loss of appetite, rash, upset stomach, itching, lack of energy, hives, unusual bleeding or bruising, difficulty breathing or swallowing, excessive tiredness, and hoarseness.
