Pimozide

Commonly Prescribed For: Pimozide is generally prescribed for controlling verbal tics caused due to Tourette’s disorder. This medication can also be used sometimes for treating schizophrenia and certain behavior, psychiatric disorders in adults. Pimozide is commonly used with other medications.
How to Take it: Pimozide is available in the form of a tablet to be taken via mouth. This medication is normally taken once every day at night or tow times every day. Take this medication as prescribed, around the same time daily.
How it Works: Pimozide belongs to a group of drugs known as conventional antipsychotics. This medication works to reduce unusual excitement in your brain.
Some Side Effects: Common side effects include sleepiness, rash, weakness, changes in handwriting, increased saliva, speech problems, dry mouth, restlessness, diarrhea, shuffling walk, constipation, blank facial expression, unusual hunger or thirst, changes in vision, changes in posture, sensitivity to light, and nervousness. Serious side effects include fever, worm-like tongue movements, confusion, difficulty breathing or swallowing, sweating, tightness in the chest, and fast or irregular heartbeat.
