How it Works: Perindopril belongs to a group of drugs known as angiotensin converting enzyme inhibitors. This medication works to prevent the production of some substances, which are responsible for tightening the blood vessels, so that blood flows more smoothly.

Some Side Effects: Common side effects include cough, upset stomach, headache, stomach pain, weakness, and diarrhea. Some serious side effects include inflammation of the face, lips, hands, or lower legs, irregular or rapid heartbeats, hoarseness, fever, difficulty breathing or swallowing, sore throat, and lightheadedness.
