Commonly Prescribed For: Parlodel is generally prescribed for treating amenorrhea (a condition where menstrual period doesn’t occur), atypical ejection of milk form breasts, and infertility in women, acromegaly (excessive amounts of growth hormone in the body), Parkinson’s disease, and hypogonadism. Parlodel is commonly used with other medications. This medication can also be used for treating neuroleptic malignant syndrome, and painful breast condition.

How to Take it: Parlodel is available in the form of a capsule, and as a tablet to be taken via mouth. This medication is normally taken once or two times every day. Take this medication as prescribed.

How it Works: Parlodel belongs to a group of drugs known as dopamine agonist. This medication works to block the discharge of prolactin from pituitary glands, thereby helping to lower growth hormone levels.

Some Side Effects: Common side effects include dizziness, constipation, upset stomach, vomiting, and headache. Some serious side effects include swelling of the feet, watery discharge from nose, uneven or irregular heartbeat, and confusion.
