Commonly Prescribed For: Pamelor is generally prescribed for treating depression. This medication can also be used for treating post-herpetic neuralgia (stabbing pains, which last for several months after shingles infection) and panic disorders. Pamelor is commonly used with other medications.

How to Take it: Pamelor is available in the form of a capsule, and as an oral liquid to be taken via mouth. This medication is normally taken 1 to 4 times every day, either with food or without food. Take Pamelor as prescribed, around the same time daily.

How it Works: Pamelor belongs to a group of drugs known as tricyclic antidepressants. This medication works to increase the quantity of some natural substances present in the brain, which are essential for maintaining mental balance.
