Minocycline
Other Names: Dynacin, Minocin, Myrac.
Commonly Prescribed For: Minocycline is used in treating bacterial infections like pneumonia and some other respiratory tract infections, urinary systems, genital and acne. Bacteria that may cause to meningitis in the nose and throat can be eliminated using Minocycline.
How to Take it: Minocycline comes in the form of tablets, a pellet-filled capsule and as regular capsule, to take by mouth. It is usually taken two times a day with an interval of 12 hours. It is advisable to take the Minocycline an hour before meals or two hours after meals. The pellet-filled capsules should not be crushed or chewed. Swallow them entirely.
How it Works: Minocycline belongs to a class of drugs known as tetracycline antibiotics. It puts off the growth of bacteria, resulting in its death.
Some Side Effects: Minocycline may lead to side effects like diarrhea, redness of the skin, light headedness, itching of the rectum, hearing loss and changes in skin color. Serious side effects include stomach pain, severe headache, fever, blurred vision, throat sores, hives, and discomfort in the mouth, dark-colored urine, and decreased urination, loss of appetite, unusual bleeding, extreme tiredness and yellowing of the skin.
