Commonly Prescribed For: Luvox is generally prescribed for treating major depression. It is also used to treat several anxiety disorders like panic disorders, post-traumatic stress disorder, obsessive-compulsive disorder, social phobia and obsessive compulsive spectrum disorder.

How to Take it: Luvox is available in the form of a tablet to take via mouth. It is generally taken once at night or two times every day, in the morning and at bedtime. Take Luvox as prescribed.

How it Works: Luvox belongs to a group of drugs known as selective serotonin reuptake inhibitors. It balances the intensity of a neurotransmitter, serotonin and hence relieves certain symptoms of OCD and depression.

Some Side Effects: Common side effects include drowsiness, abnormal ejaculation, dry mouth, weakness, nausea, nervousness, difficulty sleeping, and loss of appetite, abnormal taste, heartburn, muscle weakness, headache, indigestion and constipation. Some serious side effects include rapid heartbeat, abnormal behavior, seizures, sweating, increased period pain, sinusitis and hives.
