Lisinopril

Other Names: Prinivil, Zestril.

Commonly Prescribed For: Lisinopril is combined with any other drugs for treating high blood pressure and congestive heart failure. It is used to develop survival after a major heart attack. It is commonly used with other medications.

How to Take it: Take this medication as prescribed, in smaller amounts. Take every dose of Lisinopril along with water, either with food or without food.
How it Works: Lisinopril belongs to a group of drugs known as angiotensin-converting enzyme (ACE) inhibitors. It decreases the chemicals responsible for tightening the blood vessels, so that blood can flow more smoothly, letting the heart to pump blood more efficiently.

Some Side Effects: Common side effects include dizziness, rash, headache, and decrease in sexual ability, excessive tiredness, runny nose, upset stomach, cough, and nausea, diarrhea, sneezing and vomiting. Some serious side effects include chest pain, inflammation of the face, lips, or lower legs, fainting, difficulty breathing or swallowing, lightheadedness, fever, rapid weight gain, body aches, uneven heartbeats, sore throat, flu symptoms and chills.
