Commonly Prescribed For: Lioresal is a prescription medication, normally prescribed for treating spasticity caused by multiple sclerosis or several spinal cord injuries, or cerebral palsy. It is also used to relieve pain and hence improves muscle movement. Lioresal is commonly used with other medications.

How to Take it: Lioresal is available in the form of a tablet to be taken via mouth. It is normally taken 3 times every day at regular intervals.

How it Works: Lioresal is chemically analogous to gamma-aminobutyric, which is a chemical messenger present in the central nervous system. It works by inhibiting the nerve signals.

Some Side Effects: Common side effects include drowsiness, diarrhea, dizziness, constipation, weakness, upset stomach and headache. Serious side effects include difficulty breathing, mood changes, stomach pain, seizures, change in urine amount, vision changes, trouble breathing, muscle stiffness, painful urination, impotence, unsteadiness, vomiting, black stools and chest pain.
