Levofloxacin

Other Names: Levaquin.

Commonly Prescribed For: Levofloxacin is normally prescribed for treating several infections like pneumonia, skin infections, chronic bronchitis, prostrate, urinary tract infections and sinus. It is usually used to prevent anthrax.

How to Take it: Levofloxacin is available in tablets and injections. Levofloxacin injection is available in the form of solution injected through the vein. It is injected slowly into a vein for over an hour, once every 24 hours. Take Levofloxacin injection at the same time daily.

How it Works: Levofloxacin belongs to a group of antibiotics known as fluoroquinolones. It kills the bacteria, which causes the infection.

Some Side Effects: Common side effects include nausea, tenderness, vomiting, warmth, stomach pain, vaginal itching, constipation, headache, irritation at injection spot and heartburn. Serious side effects include seizures, tingling or numbness in certain parts of the body, dizziness, depression, confusion, hallucinations, nervousness, nightmares, restlessness, difficulty sleeping, and anxiety.
