Fluticasone
Other Names: Flonase, Flovent, Flovent Diskus, Flovent Rotadisk
Commonly Prescribed For: Fluticasone is prescribed for the treatment of the symptoms of hay fever or seasonal allergies. It can also be used to treat other year round allergies.
How to Take It: Fluticasone comes as a nasal spray, lotion, cream or powder. It can be prescribed as an oral inhaler which can prevent incidences of asthma. Fluticasone will not offer an instant remedy and may not start working for a few days. You will get the full benefit from this medication by taking it regularly. You should continue to take this medication and not stop unless instructed by your doctor. Nasal sprays are usually taken one spray in each nostril.
How It Works: Fluticasone works by relieving the cause of inflammation inside the nasal passages.
Some Side Effects: Side effects of Fluticasone may include nasal discharge, runny nose, sore throat, hoarseness, headaches, flu or dry mouth. More serious side effects can include lack of energy; nausea; fainting; vomiting; white patches in the mouth; sudden weight loss; tightness in the chest; tingling of arms and legs or weakness. Signs of a serious allergic reaction could include trouble breathing; tightness of the chest; rash; itching; hives or swollen face, lips or tongue.
