Commonly Prescribed For: Flutamide is prescribed for the treatment of prostate cancer. It is not prescribed for use in women.
How to Take It: Flutamide comes in capsule form and should be taken orally with or without food three times each day usually every eight hours. If stomach upset occurs after taking your medication it would be a good idea to take it with food to prevent this from happening. You should also only take this medication for as long as your doctor has indicated. Do not stop taking Flutamide unless instructed by your doctor.
How It Works: Flutamide works by blocking androgen, which is a male hormone. This helps to stop the tumor from growing and helps to stop the spread of cancer cells.
