Fluoxetine

Commonly Prescribed For: Fluoxetine is prescribed to treat major depression, obsessive compulsive disorders, bulimia nervosa, panic disorder and premenstrual dysphoric disorder. Fluoxetine may also be used in conjunction with Olanzapine to treat bipolar disorder.
How to Take It: Fluoxetine should be taken as prescribed by your doctor. It should not be taken for longer than the prescribed amount and you should not take larger doses of the medication. It comes in liquid or capsule form. The capsules should not be chewed, crushed or broken and should be swallowed whole with water. The liquid form should be measured on a special spoon to ensure you are getting the correct amount.
How It Works: Fluoxetine is known as an antidepressant and works by preventing the production of serotonin which is a chemical in the brain which causes forms of depression.
Some Side Effects: Side effects of Flunarizine can include drowsiness; loss of appetite; sore throat; nervousness; flu-like symptoms; diarrhea; increased perspiration; insomnia; runny nose or decreased libido. More serious side effects can include decreased concentration; palpitations; confusion; abdominal pain; red, swollen or blistered skin; irritability; severe tinnitus; persistent nausea, vomiting or diarrhea; mood swings; bleeding or bruising easily or worsening of depression. Signs of a serious allergic reaction could include trouble breathing; tightness of the chest; rash; itching; hives or swollen face, lips or tongue.
