Florinef
Other Names: Fludrocortisone
Commonly Prescribed For: Florinef is prescribed for the treatment of Addison disease and also for treating salt-losing adrenogenital syndrome. Florinef is used primarily to restore aldosterone which is the missing hormone in Addison’s disease.
How to Take It: Florinef should be taken as prescribed by your doctor. It comes in tablet form and the usual dosage is one tablet each day or one tablet every other day. It should be taken until otherwise instructed by your doctor. Do not take more or less than the prescribed dose as the amount prescribed is the exact amount you need to control the amount of sodium you intake. Too much sodium can cause high blood pressure. Florinef should be stored away from heat or moisture as this can cause the medicine to break down.
How It Works: Florinef works by making the kidneys maintain sodium. It also replaces cortisone when the body is not producing enough of it.
