Commonly Prescribed For: Flomax is commonly prescribed for the treatment of male urinary problems due to an enlarged prostate (also known as benign prostatic hyperplasia). Urinary problems treated include nighttime urination or a frequent urge to urinate.
How to Take It: Flomax should be taken as prescribed by your doctor. Flomax capsules are usually taken orally every day 30 minutes after eating. It should be taken with regularity after the same meal each day. Capsules should not be chewed, crushed or broken and should be swallowed whole with water. If you miss one dose take it as soon as you remember but never take two doses together.
How It Works: Flomax works helping to relax the muscles in the bladder and prostate which results in improved urination and helps to relieve symptoms of benign prostatic hyperplasia.
Some Side Effects: Side effects of Flomax can include, cough; insomnia; lightheadedness; diarrhea; decreased libido; blurred vision; weakness or back pain. More serious side effects can include fever; palpitations; constant sore throat; chest pain; severe dizziness; fainting or painful erection. Signs of a serious allergic reaction could include trouble breathing; tightness of the chest; rash; itching; hives or swollen face, lips or tongue.
