Commonly Prescribed For: Cymbalta is generally prescribed for treating depression and GAD. This medication can also be used for treating pain and tingling caused due to diabetic diuretic. Cymbalta is commonly used with other medications.

How to Take it: Cymbalta is available in the form of a delayed-release capsule to be taken via mouth. This medication is normally taken once or two times every day, either with food or without food to treat depression. Do not chew or crush the capsules, instead swallow the capsules entirely. Take Cymbalta as prescribed, around the same time daily.

How it Works: Cymbalta belongs to a group of drugs known as SNRIs. This medication works to increase the quantity of serotonin and norepinephrine (substances present in the brain, which helps to maintain mental balance and hence stops the motion of pain signals present in the brain).

Some Side Effects: Common side effects include nausea, changes in sexual desire, vomiting, muscle pain or cramps, constipation, drowsiness, heartburn, weakness, stomach pain, tiredness, decreased appetite, headache, dry mouth, sweating or night sweats, increased urination, and shake hands. Some serious side effects include unusual bruising or bleeding, hoarseness, swelling of the abdomen, difficulty breathing or swallowing, itching, hives, yellowing of the skin, rash, dark colored urine, blisters or peeling skin, confusion, blurred vision, and fast or irregular heartbeat.
