Other Names: Tranexamic acid

Commonly Prescribed For: Cyklokapron is generally prescribed for controlling bleeding in hemophiliacs that includes dental extraction process. This medication can also be used for other conditions where bleeding control is required including recurrent nosebleeds, surgery, or abnormal vaginal bleeding. Cyklokapron can be used for treating hereditary angioneurotic oedema (periodic inflammation of the throat).

How to Take it: Cyklokapron is available in the form of tablets to be taken via mouth. The standard dosage of two to three is generally taken 2 to 3 times every day. Take this medication as prescribed.

How it Works: This medication works to inhibit or thwart plasminogen activation and fibrinolysis to break down the clots. Cyklokapron thwarts severe blood loss by increasing clot formation.

Some Side Effects: Common side effects include nausea, vision changes, diarrhea, dizziness, vomiting, and abnormal bleeding during surgical amputation of the prostate gland, unexpected pain, allergic skin reactions, and inflammation of your arms, abnormal menstrual bleeding, and nose bleeds.
