Commonly Prescribed For: Coreg is generally prescribed for treating heart failure and high blood pressure. This medication can also be used for treating people whose hearts fail to pump blood smoothly due to heart attack. Cored is commonly used with other medications.

How to Take it: Coreg is available in the form of a tablet, and as a long-acting capsule to be taken via mouth. This medication is normally taken two times every day, either with food or without food. The long-acting capsule is generally taken once every day in the dawn along with food. The long-acting capsule should not be chewed or crushed; instead the capsules must be swallowed entirely. Take Coreg as prescribed, around the same time daily.

How it Works: Coreg belongs to a group of drugs known as beta-blockers. This medication works to relax the blood vessels, so that blood can flow more easily and efficiently through the body.

Some Side Effects: Common side effects include extreme thirst, blurred vision, frequent urination, and weakness. Some serious side effects include tiredness, tingling in the arms, weakness, dry mouth, lightheadedness, cough, dizziness, difficulty falling asleep, headache, joint pain, diarrhea, vision changes, and vomiting.
