Cordarone

Other Names: Amiodarone, Pacerone.

Commonly Prescribed For: Cordarone is generally prescribed for treating and preventing certain kinds of life-threatening ventricular arrhythmias (a condition associated with abnormal heart rhythm). This medication can also be used sometimes for treating certain types of arrhythmias. Cordarone is commonly used with other medications.

How to Take it: Cordarone is available in the form of a tablet to be taken via mouth. This medication is generally taken once or two times every day, either with food or without food. Take Cordarone as prescribed.

How it Works: Cordarone belongs to a group of drugs known as antiarryhthmics. This medication works to relax overactive heart muscles.

Some Side Effects: Common side effects include constipation, changes in the quantity of saliva, loss of appetite, abnormal taste, headache, dry eyes, decreased sex drive, flushing, and trouble sleeping. Serious side effects include rash, muscle weakness, weight loss or gain, tingling in the hands, restlessness, trouble walking, thinning hair, inflammation of the hand, or lower legs, excessive sweating, eye pain, and changes in menstrual cycle.
