Clozaril
Other Names: Clozapine, FazaClo.
Commonly Prescribed For: Clozaril is generally prescribed for treating certain symptoms associated with schizophrenia (a mental disease, which causes unusual thinking, inappropriate emotions, and lack of interest in life) in patients for whom medications failed to help. Clozaril is commonly used with other medications.
How to Take it: Clozaril is available in the form of a tablet, and as an orally disintegrating tablet to be taken via mouth. This medication is normally taken once or 3 times every day. Take Clozaril as prescribed, around the same time daily.
How it Works: Clozaril belongs to a group of drugs known as atypical antipsychotics. This medication works to change then action of some natural substances present in the brain.
Some Side Effects: Common side effects include headache, drowsiness, restlessness, dizziness, dry mouth and increased salivation. Some serious side effects include lack of energy, shaky hands, flu-like symptoms, seizures, yellowing of the skin, fainting, upset stomach, difficulty urinating, loss of appetite, loss of bladder control, unusual bleeding or bruising, confusion, sore throat, changes in vision, changes in behavior, shakiness, and severe muscle stiffness.
