Clopidogrel Bisulfate

Other Names: Plavix.

Commonly Prescribed For: It is an oral antiplatelet agent, generally prescribed for treating coronary heart disease, and cerebro-vascular disease. Clopidogrel Bisulfate is generally combined with another medication known as aspirin for treating certain disorders. This medication can be used for decreasing the risk of serious circulation problems in patients with unstable angina (chest pain).

How to Take it: Clopidogrel Bisulfate is available in the form of a tablet to be taken via mouth. Take this medication as prescribed, either with food or without food.

How it Works: Clopidogrel Bisulfate works to block a receptor known as P2Y12.

Some Side Effects: Common side effects include urinary tract infection, abdominal pain, upper respiratory tract infection, back pain, rash, bronchitis, purple discoloration of skin, unusual bruising and bleeding, pain, chest pain, nausea, coughing, joint pain, depression, itching, diarrhea, swelling of the nasal passages, difficulty breathing, indigestion, dizziness, high cholesterol, fatigue, high blood pressure, fluid retention and inflammation, and flu-like symptoms.
