Clonidine

Commonly Prescribed For: Clonidine can be used alone or used with other combinations for treating high blood pressure. It is commonly used with other medications.

How to Take it: Clonidine is available in the form of a tablet to be taken via mouth. This medication is normally taken 2 or 3 times every day at regular intervals. Take Clonidine as prescribed, around the same time daily.

How it Works: Clonidine belongs to a group of drugs known as alpha-agonist hypotensive agents. It works to decrease the heart rate and hence relaxes the blood vessels, so blood flows more easily and efficiently through the body.

Some Side Effects: Common side effects include dry mouth, constipation, tiredness, vomiting, weakness, nausea, headache, and decreased sexual ability. Some serious side effects include rash, hoarseness, hives, difficulty breathing or swallowing, and inflammation of the face, lips, feet, or lower legs.
