Clomiphene
Other Names: Clomid, Serophene.
Commonly Prescribed For: Clomiphene is generally prescribed for inducing ovulation in women who failed to produce ova, but wants to become pregnant. This medication can also be used for treating male infertility, persistent breast milk production, and menstrual abnormalities. Clomiphene is commonly used with other medications.
How to Take it: Clomiphene is available in the form of a tablet to be taken via mouth. This medication is normally taken once every day for a period of five days. Take Clomiphene as prescribed.
How it Works: Clomiphene belongs to a group of drugs known as ovulatory stimulants. It works just like estrogens (female hormones, which caused ova to be developed in the ovaries and hence released).
Some Side Effects: Common side effects include feeling of warmth, abnormal vaginal bleeding, upset stomach, headache, and breast discomfort. Some serious side effects include blurred vision, shortness of breath, visual spots or flashes, weight gain, double vision, inflammation of the stomach, and lower stomach pain.
