Commonly Prescribed For: Clomid is generally prescribed for inducing ovulation in women who have failed to produce ova but desire to become pregnant. This medication can also be used for treating male infertility, persistent breast milk production, and menstrual abnormalities. Clomid is commonly used with other medications.

How to Take it: Clomid is available in the form of a tablet to be taken via mouth. This medication is normally taken once every day for a period of five days. Take Clomid as prescribed, around the same time daily.

How it Works: Clomid belongs to a group of drugs known as ovulatory stimulants. It works just like estrogens (female hormones, which cause ova to be developed in the ovaries and hence released).

Some Side Effects: Common side effects include abnormal vaginal bleeding, feeling of warmth, headache, upset stomach, and breast discomfort. Some serious side effects include shortness of breath, blurred vision, weight gain, visual spots or flashes, stomach swelling, and double vision.
