Cisapride
Other Names: Propulsid.
Commonly Prescribed For: Cisapride is generally prescribed for treating certain symptoms of nighttime heartburn in patients suffering from gastroesophageal reflux disease. It is commonly used with other medications.
How to Take it: Cisapride is available in the form of a tablet, and liquid to be taken via mouth. This medication is generally taken four times every day, 5 minutes prior to taking meals and at bedtime. Take Cisapride as prescribed.
How it Works: Cisapride works to fortifying muscle contractions of digestive system so that food moves more easily and efficiently through the stomach.
Some Side Effects: Common side effects include diarrhea, coughing, upset stomach, constipation, seizures, stomach discomfort, and stuffy nose. Some serious side effects include vision changes, chest pain, vomiting, skin rash, unusually tired or weak, inflammation of the face, or tongue, rapid or irregular heartbeat, itching, and lightheadedness.
