Cinnarizine
Other Names: Stugeron.
Commonly Prescribed For: It is an antihistamine drug, generally prescribed for controlling vomiting caused due to motion sickness. This medication can also be used for relieving nausea, spinning sensations, noise in the ears or vomiting associated with Meniere’s disease.
How to Take it: Cinnarizine is available in the form of a tablet to be taken via mouth. This medication is normally taken three times every day. Take Cinnarizine as prescribed.
How it Works: It works to obstruct histamine and muscarinic receptors present in the vomiting section of the brain. This thwarts the vomiting section from receiving the nerve from vestibular apparatus. Therefore disturbances caused in the middle ear are prevented form activating the vomiting section and leads to vertigo and vomiting.
Some Side Effects: Common side effects include jaundice, diarrhea, weight gain, nausea, sweating, constipation, and dry mouth, drowsiness, abdominal pain, skin reactions, headache, tremor, and unusual movements of the legs, neck and tongue.
