Ciloxan
Other Names: Ciprofloxacin, Cipro.
Commonly Prescribed For: Ciloxan is generally prescribed for treating bacterial infections affecting the eyes, such as conjunctivitis, and corneal ulcers (loss of tissue at the front part of your eyes). Ciloxan ointment can be used for treating conjunctivitis.
How to Take it: Ciloxan is available in the form of a solution, and an ointment to be applied to the eyes. This medication is normally used often, once every fifteen minutes to once every four hours for a period of two weeks. Ciloxan ointment is generally applied 3 times every day for a period of 2 days and two times every day for a period of 5 days. Take Ciloxan as prescribed, around the same time daily.
How it Works: Ciloxan belongs to a group of antibiotic known as fluoroquinolones. It kills the bacteria that lead to infections.
Some Side Effects: Common side effects include burning, red or irritated eyes, unpleasant taste and eye pain. Some serious side effects include rash, hoarseness, hives, difficulty breathing or swallowing, itching, inflammation of the face, lips, feet, or lower legs, and tingling.
