How to Take it: Chloromycetin is available in the form of a liquid that is to be injected through a vein. This medication is generally given every 6 hours. It also comes as tablets to be taken via mouth. Chew and crush the tablets along with water before swallowing.
How it Works: Chloromycetin belongs to a group of drugs known as antibiotics. It thwarts the growth of bacteria.
Some Side Effects: Common side effects include nausea, confusion, vomiting, depression, diarrhea, headache and mouth sores. Some serious side effects include hives, pain with eye movement, rash, sudden changes in vision, itching, feelings of numbness, inflammation of the face, lips, feet, or lower legs, tingling in an arm, hoarseness, sweating, difficulty breathing or swallowing, muscle aches or weakness, and watery or bloody stools.
