Cetirizine
Other Names: Zyrtec.
Commonly Prescribed For: Cetirizine is generally prescribed for treating cold or allergy symptoms including sneezing, runny nose, or itching. This medication can also be used for treating itching and inflammation caused by chronic urticaria. Cetirizine is commonly used with other medications.
How to Take it: Cetirizine is available in the form of a tablet, and a chewable tablet to be taken via mouth. Take the medication either with food or without food. Chew and crush the chewable tablet before swallowing.
How it Works: Cetirizine belongs to a group of drugs known as antihistamine. It works by reducing a natural substance namely histamine in the body, which produces certain symptoms of sneezing, runny nose, or itching.
Some Side Effects: Some serious side effects include dizziness, headache, drowsiness, nausea, nausea, tired feeling, constipation, dry mouth, and sore throat. Some serious side effects include uneven heartbeat, urinating less than usual, weakness, problems with vision, tremors, confusion, hives, inflammation of the face, or throat, sleeping problems, breathing difficulty, and severe restlessness feeling.
