How to Take it: Celexa is available in the form of a tablet, and as liquid to be taken via mouth. This medication is generally taken once every day, either with food or without food. Take Celexa as prescribed, around the same time everyday.

How it Works: Celexa belongs to a group of antidepressants known as selective serotonin reuptake inhibitors. It increases the quantity of serotonin (a substance present in the brain, which helps to maintain mental balance).

Some Side Effects: Common side effects include nausea, loss of appetite, vomiting, changes in sex drive, stomach pain, excessive sweating, drowsiness, dry mouth, excitement, and muscle or joint pain. Some serious effects include hearing unusual voices, fever, seizures, trouble sleeping, behavior or mood changes, depression, sweating, severe muscle stiffness, confusion and irregular heartbeat.
