Celecoxib
Other Names: Celebrex.
Commonly Prescribed For: Celecoxib is generally prescribed for treating pain or swelling caused by several conditions including menstrual pain, osteoarthritis, ankylosing spondylitis, and juvenile arthritis. This medication can also be used for treating hereditary polyps in colon. It is used for relieving pain of menstrual cramps. Celecoxib is commonly used with other medications.
How to Take it: Celecoxib is available in the form of a tablet to be taken via mouth. This medication is generally taken once or two times every day. Take 200mg of this medication, either with food or without food. Take Celecoxib as prescribed, around the same time everyday.
How it Works: Celecoxib belongs to a class of medications known as nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory drugs. It decreases the hormones that cause swelling and pain.
Some Side Effects: Common side effects include upset stomach, ringing in the ears, mild heartburn, blurred vision, diarrhea, skin rash, constipation, itching, bloating, headache, gas and nervousness. Some serious side effects include black or tarry stools, bruising, inflammation or rapid weight gain, severe tingling, urinating less than usual, numbness, nausea, muscle weakness, stomach pain, red skin rash, loss of appetite, yellowing of the skin, severe blistering, clay-colored stools, and dark urine.
